The holiday season is almost here, which for many of us means it is time to relax and have some fun with our friends and families.

2020 has been a challenging year for us all, and although we're all looking forward to some time off, the holiday period can be a challenging time for some people. The Safety, Health and Wellbeing team want to remind you of the support services that are still available to Fire and Emergency personnel and their families during the break.

Peer support provides confidential assistance, support or practical help, from a colleague who volunteers to support others. They draw upon their own lived experience and understanding of the unique challenges our work provides.

Peer support is a chance to talk confidentially about personal, work, family, financial or other issues with trained colleagues who can provide a listening ear and practical help. Peer supporters also recognise when people may need more support than they can provide, and can facilitate access to qualified psychological help and support if our people need it.
