NHQ Christmas shut down period 2022/23
This year NHQ will be closed from Friday 23 December 2022 at 5pm and reopen on Monday 9 January 2023 at 8am.
As has been the case for a number of years now, this closedown enables NHQ-based staff to have a break. It’s really important that we all get some time away from the office and our emails, so only those with prior approval will be given permission to do so. Regions will be made aware of this closedown and will adopt, adapt or otherwise, depending on the needs of the Region and District operational requirements at their discretion.
Those that are rostered ‘on-call’ on a formal roster will not be required to go on leave for the period they are on call. Anyone else that has a genuine and pressing reason to work during this period must complete a written submission to their manager outlining the reasons for an exemption, which must be approved by the relevant DCE – I expect exemptions to be rare.
Please submit your annual leave requests for the period Wednesday 28 December 2022 through to Friday 6 January 2023 (a total of six annual leave days). Monday 26th and Tuesday 27th Dec, and Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rdJanuary are public holidays.

Christmas & New Year Payroll Processing 2022/23
All documentation for processing by payroll for December/January must be with the payroll team no later than 5.00pm on Tuesday 20 December 2022.
Please notify payroll of any Leavers and New Employees as soon as possible, to ensure that payments are processed without disruption to the employees.
Requests for payroll processing that don’t meet this close-off deadline will need to be held over for the pay run of 25 January 2023.
As Christmas Day and Boxing Day fall directly before payday, the payment that is due to be paid on 28 December 2022 will be paid early on Friday 23 December 2022. The following pay date of 11 January 2023 is unchanged.
The SMS download for the payrun due on 28 December 2022 will be processed on Thursday 22 December 2022 – one day earlier than usual. This will mean that any additional hours, overtime or allowances claimed from Thursday 22 December until Wednesday 28 December will not be paid until the following payrun due to be paid on 11 January 2023.
