Fire and Emergency advises of the passing of Kenneth Alan (Ken) Rintoul from Okaihau, Northland on 29 November.

Ken had been a member of Fire and Emergency’s Northland Local Advisory Committee since June 2020.

Ken’s background was in the construction and civil engineering industries. He was a Trustee of Top Energy Ltd and a previous Chair of both the Northern Rural Fire Authority Board and the Youth Development Trust. Ken was recognised in this year’s Queens Birthday Honours List and made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM), for services to governance and the community. He made significant contributions to infrastructure and community projects in the Northland region for over 20 years.

A service of remembrance was held at his home in Ōkaihau, near Kerikeri, on 5 December.
