Ten Angloco MAN Type 3 appliances have arrived in New Zealand from the UK and are undergoing compliance checks before being handed over to Fire and Emergency.

The appliances are part of an order of 28 MAN Type 3 appliances that were purchased to continue to upgrade the Type 3 fleet.

National Manager Fleet, Mike Moran, said there are another six appliances currently in transit and expected to arrive in New Zealand at the end of July, with six more to be shipped in a week’s time and the final six early August.

‘We expect to have received all 28 by the end of October. As each batch arrives, we will perform acceptance testing and arrange for ICT fitout and branding to be applied before they are ready for crew training.

‘The training plan and associated training material is currently being finalised including a trial run through by trainers on our prototype Angloco MAN Type 3.’

Mike said the appliance firefighting functionality of the appliances is very similar to the Angloco Type 3 trial appliances trialled at four stations last year.

‘In addition to these new appliances, we have five new Aerial appliances being built in Australia and Wellington and these are due to be ready later this financial year.

‘We have also ordered 14 more Type 3 appliances which will be built over the next 18 months.’

The destination stations for the new Angloco MAN Type 3s are on the Portal.
