New Feederlines case study: safe charging of lithium-ion batteries
We have added a new case study to our Feederlines series which features specific incidents or themes aimed at helping with continuous improvement in our operational response.
The new case study is 'Safe charging of lithium-ion batteries'.
Lithium-ion batteries are in all sorts of everyday devices, e-bikes and e-scooters, vapes and power tools. Li-Ion batteries are in many tools and items in use on fire appliances and other vehicles, in our stations, offices, our phones and laptops.
Handled correctly, these are safe and function well in their various situations and roles. They are light, compact, and long-lasting, but can be a fire hazard if they are damaged, mishandled, or improperly charged or disposed of. One area where there is potential risk is in charging Li-Ion batteries.
Read the new case study on the Portal. The Feederlines series is on the Portal listed in alphabetical order.
The Feederlines series is developed by Des Hosie, our National Operations Advisor and Safety, Continuous Improvement and Lessons Management Lead, Operational Assurance. It invites operational personnel to think about how they would deal with a similar situation using their own training, knowledge and experience, and resources at hand.
