Every day, hundreds of businesses and organisations across Aotearoa New Zealand support our brigades and communities by allowing their employees to respond to incidents. Our self-employed volunteers and employers of our volunteers are an essential part of our support crew.

To recognise our self-employed volunteers and volunteers’ employers’ support, in 2020, we introduced the Proud Employer mark. Volunteers’ employers and self-employed volunteers can use the mark on their signage, website, social media channels or uniform – so the public can recognise their contribution to keeping their local community safe.

Over the past four years, one of the ways we have raised awareness of the Proud Employer mark is by promoting volunteers’ employers in a national campaign, to recognise the vital contribution they make in our communities.

Our latest campaign creatively shows our volunteers in their operational gear at their place of work. It conveys how our volunteers are willing to rush off to serve their communities during their work day and that for them and their employers, volunteering is 'All in a Day's Work'.

For this year’s campaign, we are promoting two of our Proud Employers, The Lawn Brigade in Ōmāpere and Meridian Energy in Twizel. The support of a small, self-employed business and a large organisation shows the range of businesses that support volunteers. We also wanted to highlight the different volunteer roles there are. The Lawn Brigade and Meridian Energy were identified by our people as they met the campaign’s requirements and go above and beyond in their roles as Proud Employers.

While we can’t show and recognise every business in this campaign, we hope that all our Proud Employers and volunteers can see themselves represented in its message.

Campaign videos, posters and email signatures are available to download on our website. (external link)
