As another Movember draws to a close, we want to extend a huge thank you to everyone at Fire and Emergency New Zealand who has taken part this year. Whether you laced up your running shoes, grew a mighty mo’ (or a proudly patchy one), hosted an event, donated, or simply checked in with the men around you – your contribution matters.

Movember is more than a fundraiser. It’s about shining a light on the serious health challenges many men face which sadly touch many of us personally, through loved ones, crew mates, or our own lived experience.

This year our stations, brigades and ComCens once again showed incredible passion, humour and commitment. Your efforts help continue to change the conversation around men's health and encourage kōrero that might otherwise never happen.

A cause close to home

Movember isn’t just something we support from afar – it directly contributes to the wellbeing of our own people.

Our Whanaungatanga programme(external link)(external link)(external link)(external link), partly funded by the Movember Foundation, is helping us better understand and address the mental health impacts facing first responders and veterans. Led by firefighters and managers, and supported by world-leading researchers, the programme focuses on organisational change that promotes wellbeing and reduces risk factors for mental ill-health.

By getting involved in Movember, you’re helping make projects like Whanaungatanga possible, and supporting research, prevention and wellbeing initiatives for men in Aotearoa New Zealand and around the world.

Still time to get behind the cause

Even though the month is nearly done, it’s not too late to support Movember. You can:

  • Donate to a colleague or team
  • Share or promote a Mo Space page
  • Host a last-minute Mo-ment to raise kōrero and funds
  • Have a check-in with someone who may need it – mates, colleagues, whānau or yourself.

Every conversation counts. Every act of support can help save lives.

Thank you

To everyone who grew, moved, fundraised, encouraged or supported others – thank you. Your efforts help drive awareness, build connection, and make a real difference to the men in our organisation, our communities and our homes.

If you haven’t had a chance to take part yet or would like to keep the kaupapa going beyond November, there’s still time. Your support, in any form, continues to change the face of men’s health.

Ngā mihi nui for standing with us this Movember – and for looking after yourselves and each other.
