Mervyn O’Connor

It is with great sadness that Manawatu-Whanganui District advises of the passing of Mervyn O’Connor, sadly Merv passed away on Saturday 5 July 2025, aged 69 years old.

Merv served in the Taihape Volunteer Fire Brigade from October 1972 up to his passing, serving over 52 years as a Volunteer Firefighter.

His funeral mass will be held at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Taihape from 11am Thursday 10July, followed by interment at the Taihape Cemetery, and refreshments at the Taihape Fire Station. All are welcome.

FENZ staff are invited to attend in undress uniform with medals and caps included.
