Mental Health Awareness Week: Proud Employers are a key part of our support network
A little support can go a long way to reducing stress and improving mental wellbeing.
Every day, our volunteers are supported by their employers or employees as they respond to call-outs across their communities.
Employers are an important part of our support crew and we work to recognise this role through our Proud Employer mark. This mark represents the important collaboration between Fire and Emergency, volunteers and their employers.
Creating an environment in which our volunteers can more freely respond to call-outs in their community benefits everyone and creates a positive and healthy work environment.
We recently launched a new marketing campaign(external link) which seeks to highlight the contribution that our volunteers’ employers or self-employed volunteers make to the function of our organisation.
Check out some more ways that employers are doing the important mahi of supporting our volunteers here.

We maintain a database of organisations that employ volunteers in New Zealand. If you would like to support organisations employing volunteers and supporting their communities visit our website. You can search and filter by business name, type, region or station. The database includes self-employed volunteers’ businesses.
