All Fire and Emergency personnel have 183 days (six months) from the date of receiving their primary dose (mainly second dose) to receive their booster vaccine.

This includes everyone covered by the Health Order or our Vaccination Policy.

People received their second dose of the vaccine on different dates, therefore will be due for their boosters on different dates. We have created a table, which can be viewed via the link below, to help remind people the due dates for booster vaccines. (The table is indicative only and you will have to check your actual dates yourself.)

30 day reminder email

We are also issuing automated reminder emails to personnel 30 days prior to their booster due date.

Remember, while boosters are not required until six months after the second dose, they’re available from three months and we encourage everybody to get their booster as soon as they can, in line with Ministry of Health advice.

Due for a booster but contracted COVID-19?

We now have a process for group applications for individuals seeking a Temporary Medical Exemption to the Health Order due to contracting COVID-19, therefore unable to get a booster to comply with the Health Order. (The Ministry of Health recommends waiting 12 weeks from recovery from a COVID-19 infection before receiving a booster vaccine.)

If you require an exemption see your Manager who can work with HR to initiate the process. For more information on exemptions go here(external link)(external link)

Are your records accurate?

Everyone also needs to provide Fire and Emergency with their booster vaccination data which enables us to monitor for compliance and undertake effective workforce planning.

We are currently looking at verification of data by the Ministry of Health and will keep you updated.

You are entitled to check your vaccination information on record is accurate. You can do this using the same channels used to record your information:
