Te Wiki Tūao ā-Motu National Volunteer Week is just around the corner (15–21 June) and Fire and Emergency will be using the opportunity to celebrate and thank the 11,800+ volunteers across the motu.

This year’s campaign theme is Whiria te tangata – Weave the people together. The focus of this campaign is to celebrate the collective contribution of our volunteers. While you’re out and about, you may see or hear our targeted media campaign, focusing on highlighting how valuable volunteers are as a team in their communities. We will be encouraging the public to thank our volunteers and to raise awareness of the role they play in keeping our communities safe.

Attending callouts, training and community events means time away from work and home – so the whānau, friends and employers of volunteers are an essential part of the support crew.

Help us celebrate our volunteers

You can get involved this National Volunteer Week by accessing the digital toolkit on the Portal. You can say thank you by using the resources and sharing them on your social networks.

We'll also be celebrating volunteers on Facebook(external link) and Instagram(external link).
