Training and ICT are working together to upgrade Learning Station, Fire and Emergency’s online training and education hub.

The new look platform will provide a better user experience and allow Training to begin working on new initiatives to better support Fire and Emergency’s people. It’ll look a little different to the current site, so we’re also building some new e-learning resources to help you find your way around.

What should I expect?

This is a major upgrade and requires a lot of behind-the-scenes work. Learning Station will be unavailable between 1800 NZST on Tuesday 1 October and 0800 NZST Monday 7 October 2019 while we do this critical mahi. We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding.

From 0800 Monday 7 October 2019, the new Learning Station will be available to all users from anywhere with an internet connection (as it is now). The Portal Quicklink, the shortcut on your desktop and the same URL ( link)) will all continue to take you to the site, with log-on enabled via your FENZ login account details. All the same resources and records will be available, and you’ll be able to do everything you can do now plus more!

More information

Please see some key information below. There’s more information on the “What’s New” page on the current Learning Station as well. Remember to check out the “Get Started” resources on the new site once it’s available.

Accessing the site using IE11

If you try to access the new site using Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) and get an error or blank screen, you should check the compatibility settings. Click the cog icon at the top right of IE11. Ensure that the window that opens looks like the following screenshot. Both checkboxes need to be checked and if has been added to Compatibility View you will need to remove it by highlighting the text and clicking Remove. This will not affect your use of other Fire and Emergency sites. If you need any assistance with this, please contact ICT Support.

Can I access the new Learning Station using my mobile devices?

Mobile access is not currently enabled for the site - we hope to deliver this functionality soon. You may be able to access the site using some tablets.

The new site will have a new URL ( but we will have a redirect in place from the current URL(external link) to the new one for the foreseeable future. If you have manually bookmarked the current URL, we suggest you update it once the new site is available.
