At the end of 2024, the Kaupapa Māori and Cultural Communities (KMCC) Branch held their end of year wānanga at Taheke Marae in Rotorua to pōhiri (welcome) new branch members, whakawhanaungatanga and establish a shared understanding of KMCC’s contribution to Fire and Emergency.

The pōhiri also welcomed Kereama Katu into his senior leadership role of Pou Whakahaere.

Chief Executive Kerry Gregory attended the hui and spoke of the importance of Fire and Emergency’s continuing commitment to working with Māori as tangata whenua and the role KMCC play in this mahi.
