John MacAlister Nichol

It is with sadness that the Napier Fire Brigade advise of the passing of retired Senior Firefighter John MacAlister Nichol, on 3rd January 2026.

John was a respected and valued member of the Napier Fire Brigade, (1974 – 2011), and his community. Our thoughts currently are with Daph, Jamie, Kirsty, and Hamish and the extend family.

A celebration of John’s life will be held on Wednesday 7th January 2026 at 13:30 at Crab Farm Winery, Bayview, Napier.

Although this is not an official brigade funeral, wearing undress uniform is optional and welcomed.

The whanau would be delighted to see fellow firefighters represented at the celebration as firefighting and whanau were a huge part of Johnny’s identity
