Out ICT teams are working on our systems and applications this weekend, with two outages taking place.

Outage 1: 8 AM to 8PM on Saturday 2 April.

This will impact the following mapping applications and services:

  • SMS Incident Reporting
  • SMART applications - SMART Map, SMART Status/ICU, SMART Risk, SMART Change
  • Fire and Emergency’s Esri Portal

These applications will experience intermittent availability throughout the maintenance period, but should be treated as a full outage, between 8 AM to 8PM on Saturday 2 April.

Although the outage has been scheduled on a Saturday to reduce the impact on personnel - all applications listed above will be impacted by this change.

Outage 2: 1 AM to 4AM on Sunday, 3 April.

Our internet service provider is updating their equipment, so the following services will be affected for at least 45 minutes during this window:

  • Microsoft Teams for people working in the office/station
  • Skype for Business for people working in the office/station
  • 3rd party VPN connections into FENZ (Sumtotal, SmartTrak, TenFour & Accela)
  • External connectivity to Citrix from personal devices. Users will have to use the url https://drsecure.fireandemergency.nz(external link) instead of the usual https://secure.fireandemergency.nz(external link)
  • External access from personal devices to some FENZ systems such as SmartStatus
  • BYOD Wi-Fi at RCCs & LCCs. We will be disabling the SERVIMUS Wi-Fi during the outage window to force Mobility devices to fail over to 4G connections in order to get them online.

We don’t expect many of these services to be in use during this time, but should users wish to use them, they may be unavailable.

If personnel experience any issues with these applications and services outside of these outage windows, please call the IT Service Desk on 0800 374 843 option 1, alternatively email: ITSupport@fireandemergency.nz
