International Mentorship Opportunity
Expressions of interest are sought from Fire and Emergency and partner agency personnel to be mentees or mentors as part of a pilot programme for developing wildfire capability.
Background:
The International Fire Management Mentoring Programme (IFMMP) was developed from the North American Wildfire Study Tour Group of 2020.
The programme is designed to support the development of a diverse wildfire leadership capability within North American, Australasia and participating Forest Fire management agencies. Participating agencies have recognised that diversity, inclusion, and equity are cornerstones to improving wildfire service delivery, leadership and enhanced connection to communities.
Mentors – please consider giving back by signing up! The programme is seeking experienced people who wish to “give back” as Mentors
Mentees – do you want to increase your capability for effective leadership in the forest fire environment? There is more information in this flier.
Please ensure you have the support of your manager before applying (including to be part of the programme, journey through the programme, and participation following the programme).
After applications are received and reviewed, a steering group for the programme will match the mentors and mentees based on interests and career pathways. International phone or online remote mentoring will be the main method of communication.
Please note this is an in-kind mentorship arrangement opportunity. There is no allocated funding for overtime, travel etc.
Applications close 19 December 2025.
