Today is International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia & Biphobia – a worldwide celebration of sexual and gender diversities.

The day aims to draw attention to the violence and discrimination experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex people and all other people with diverse sexual orientations, gender identities or expressions, and sex characteristics.

As an organisation, we want our workplace to be respectful and inclusive, where everyone can bring their whole self to their work, or while volunteering. Everyone has the right to be treated with dignity and respect and be in an environment where they feel safe, welcome and valued for the mahi they do.

If you’d like to know more, or to join the mailing list, please get in touch with Whiria te Tāngata | Rainbow Network at: whiriatetangata@fireandemergency.nz

Also don’t forget that this Friday is Pink Shirt Day(external link) – to stand together to stop bullying. More information to come on how our people can get involved.
