Yesterday (16 August) marked an important milestone in Fire and Emergency’s implementation of its Digital Strategy as the Āwhina platform establishment was completed.

This is a major achievement for our organisation and follows establishment of the Enterprise Integration Platform as the second major foundation step towards fulfilment of our Digital Strategy over the coming years.

Āwhina is a digital workflow platform. It provides updated technology to support our digital workflow-based applications. Āwhina means to assist, help, support or benefit. It’s a fitting name given this platform will make it easier to manage and track workflows, while reducing manual workload and administration.

The first applications to be loaded to Āwhina will be Evacuation Schemes and Fire Investigations, which will allow us to decommission the m.Pad (Managing Processes and Documents), our legacy platform. The superior platform capability will then allow a range of additional applications to be added to the platform, pending prioritisation and funding approval.

Work is already underway loading the Evacuation Schemes application to Āwhina.  Until completion, the project team will continue looking after the platform and you can expect no impacts to your roles.

Tenzing and Pega will continue their great work in partnering with us and will be joined by other our panel suppliers, Datacom and Aereteans, in the future as we continue to onboard applications onto the platform, subject to prioritisation

You can find more information and follow Evacuation Schemes application development updates on the project’s Portal page(external link).
