We want people to tell us about their observations and experiences during our response to the COVID-19 pandemic. We are currently in the process of undertaking two related processes.

Those teams that were directly involved the organisation’s management response to the COVID-19 pandemic will be undertaking a dedicated debrief process. This is to ensure that we identify any lessons learned in how those teams may need to improve, in case we return up the COVID-19 Alert levels. Those teams will be contacted soon.

We are also undertaking a more organisation-wide process to ensure that all staff can provide feedback for continuous improvement. This is being led by National Operations Advisor, Safety, Continuous Improvement and Lessons Management Lead, Des Hosie. He  says it is essential that we continue to learn and improve – as well as celebrate and sustain our successes – from all our emergency management responses.

“By hearing from Fire and Emergency personnel about their experiences during our response to COVID-19, we can learn from those and identify trends and themes that may mean we need to improve or that we did something really well.

“We have a form we would like people to complete with their observations. All responses will be anonymous and confidential. We know there are teams who are having formal debriefing sessions but individuals within those teams may also like to complete the form. The information from the debriefing process and the responses to our survey will all be collated and analysed to identify themes and trends.

“We look forward to hearing everyone’s views and thoughts.”

The form is on the Portal(external link).
