The next time you order a kit for Home Fire Safety Visits you will notice it includes a new, smaller, smoke alarm.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand recently moved to a new supplier of smoke alarms, which are smaller in diameter than alarms previously provided. While the new alarm size won’t affect new installs it does require an ‘adaptor bracket’ to be used when replacing Fire Angel alarms.

This ‘adaptor bracket’ allows the new FHB10 alarm (order no. 1799) to fit directly onto an existing Fire Angel ST-620 bracket, meaning the old bracket does not need to be removed. Using adaptors will also help limit damage to the home’s interior, with no extra screw holes required.

Along with the new alarm, you will notice the Home Fire Safety Visit kit includes a newly branded sticker, to be placed at a safe meeting point outside the house.

Unfortunately, ‘make your home and family fire safe’ books are not currently available as they are being rebranded as part of the ongoing project to review and reinvigorate the Home Fire Safety Visit programme. This work is close to completion, and we expect these to be available early 2018.
