Free flu vaccinations are now available for all people at Fire and Emergency.

Every year, around one in four New Zealanders are infected with the flu, so it makes sense to be prepared for the flu season and plan your vaccination early.

While it's optional, getting the flu vaccination means you can better protect yourself, colleagues and loved ones from getting sick and help to reduce the pressure on our health system. Receiving the flu vaccination as early as possible also ensures your immune system is stronger over the winter months.

The COVID-19 vaccine does not protect against the flu, so it is important to get both your COVID-19 and flu vaccine to be better protected. There is no wait time required between receiving your COVID-19 booster and the flu vaccine.

The flu vaccination process is the similar to last year, although it varies slightly for volunteers, employees and contractors.

Our dedicated Portal page  has all the information you need, and outlines the process for Fire and Emergency’s volunteers, employees and contractors, including reimbursement process if you have already paid for your flu vaccination.
