Free flu vaccinations are now available for all Fire and Emergency personnel.

Every year, around one in four New Zealanders, are infected with the flu, so you must be prepared for the flu season and plan your vaccination early.

While it's optional, getting the flu vaccination means you can better protect yourself, colleagues and loved ones from getting sick. Receiving the flu vaccination as early as possible also ensures your immune system is stronger over the winter months.

The flu vaccination process is mostly the same as last year, although getting your vaccination varies slightly for volunteers, employees and contractors.

Our first and co-responders are also eligible to receive their COVID-19 vaccination now as part of the Government’s priority Group 2. It is recommended first and co responders get their COVID-19 vaccination first and wait 14 days after their second COVID-19 vaccination before getting their flu vaccination. More information and steps you’ll need to follow are below.

Our dedicated Portal page has all the information you need, and outlines the process for Fire and Emergency’s volunteers, employees and contractors. You can read more here
