We welcomed the chairs of our seven Local Advisory Committees in person for the first time in Wellington last week.

National Manager for LACs, Lucy Chamberlain said everyone was delighted to welcome the chairs and get to know them better.

“It was great to have our chairs all in the room at the same time and hear from them first-hand about what they think are the priorities and issues they and their committees need to focus on. It was also a chance for them to hear more about Fire and Emergency on our direction and intentions and where their committees fit in.

“Our chairs – and their committees – are experienced and knowledgeable local people who are passionate about helping and supporting their communities. Our communities are all different and have different needs. Through their connections, knowledge, and engagement with their local people and Fire and Emergency teams, they will help us identify, assess, and manage those specific needs and help inform our planning for emergency events.”

The chairs and the areas they represent are Gordon Lambeth (Northland); Molly Pardoe (Tairāwhiti); Jeremy Harker (Hawke’s Bay); Trevor Hook (Marlborough); Brent Swanson (Chatham Islands); Terry Donaldson (West Coast); and Brenden Winder (Otago).
