Registrations to attend this year’s FireNZ 2019 conference are now open. Held in Auckland from 4-6 September 2019, this annual conference is aimed at fire protection and fire engineering professionals. It is focused on sharing the latest advancements in all aspects of fire protection and safety in New Zealand.

This year’s theme is ‘The Future of Fire Protection’. Delegates are expected from all over the Pacific to hear from an international line-up of speakers, including our very own Fire Risk Management Officers, Nick Linton and John Smalls.

The seven key note speakers include David Paulison, retired Director of FEMA, who will share lessons learned from Hurricane Katrina, and Dr John Allum, Regional Director, Hawkins and Associates, who will speak about Li-ion batteries and dangerous chemical cargoes, and also the devastating Tianjin explosions in 2015.

Bruce Varner, retired Chief Fire Officer Santa Rosa, will head a workshop titled ‘Strategic Planning for Recovery – Lessons learned from today’s emergencies to better manage future emergencies’ in association with Civil Defence. This workshop builds on the requirements of the amendments to the Civil Defence Emergency Management Act 2002 that came into force in December 2016.

There’s a discounted registration price for Fire and Emergency delegates. Please discuss with your manager before registering. To ensure you secure a seat, we recommend you start the process asap.
