Fire and Emergency is delighted to announce we are this year a partner of one of New Zealand’s favourite reality TV shows.

The Block NZ: Firehouse on Three will see a former fire station transformed into high-end apartments.

Deputy Chief Executive Raewyn Bleakley says the association with this year’s The Block NZ was a perfect fit for Fire and Emergency.

“Having a former fire station being renovated offered a great opportunity. It was, simply, too good an offer to turn down,” Ms Bleakley says.

“The sponsorship will give Fire and Emergency invaluable moments to communicate home safety messages to New Zealanders during prime time viewing.”

National Adviser Fire Risk Management Pete Gallagher says a variety of home fire safety messaging will be featured throughout the various phases of building renovations.

“It’s all about embedding in the public’s mind that home fire safety is everyone’s responsibility, and there’s a range of easy things that people can do to make their homes safer.”

During The Block NZ’s 2019 season, there will be some opportunities for Fire and Emergency staff to get involved in aspects of the show. We’ll keep you posted on those in the future.

A vintage fire truck, see picture below, has been used to promote the show.
