Fire and Emergency New Zealand lights up Young Farmer of the Year Regional Finals
Over the past three months Fire and Emergency have been delivering fire safety modules at the FMG Young Farmer of the Year Regional Finals.
These modules were created for the Agrikids (12 years and under) and Junior Young Farmer of the Year (13-17 years) competitions. The competitions tested their fire safety knowledge in both urban and rural settings.
“Young Farmers is a fantastic opportunity for us to engage with the future leaders in the agriculture sector and grow their knowledge of fire safety,” says Steve Turek, National Manager Community Readiness and Recovery.
“Our attendance at these events has been a massive success for the organisation,” explains Turek, “and that really comes down to the professionalism and enthusiasm shown by our District teams who attended the event.”
Following our successful participation in the Regional Finals, Fire and Emergency has been asked to contribute fire safety modules to the FMG Young Farmer of the Year Grand Final, held in Whangārei, in July.
The Young Farmer of the Year competition is one of the key events for the agricultural community in New Zealand and has been running since 1969. The contest puts participants through a diverse range of practical, theoretical, and technical farming challenges.
