FeederLines: Firefighter struck by monsoon bucket
We have added a new case study to our FeederLines series which features specific incidents or themes aimed at helping with continuous improvement in our operational response.
In this new case study, during wildfire operations, a fire crew was tasked with holding down a portable dam to prevent it from being lifted or blown by rotor-wash into a helicopter's flight path during filling operations. One firefighter was struck and pinned by the monsoon bucket as it swung during the helicopter's approach.
Read the new case study on the Portal. The FeederLines series is on the Portal(external link)(external link)(external link)(external link)(external link) listed in alphabetical order.
You can also view FeederLines in the Operational Assurance Hub(external link)(external link)(external link)(external link)(external link), listed by the most recent case study and categorised by incident type.
The FeederLines series is developed by Des Hosie, our National Operations Advisor and Safety, Continuous Improvement and Lessons Management Lead from the Operational Assurance team. It invites operational personnel to think about how they would deal with a similar situation using their own training, knowledge and experience, and resources at hand.
