Exercise Maikuku
Fire and Emergency is leading a national exercise during 13 - 15 May 2025: Exercise Maikuku (an abbreviation of Te Maikuku o Māhuika).
The purpose of Exercise Maikuku (the Exercise) is to bring together partner agencies and emergency management personnel required to manage, support, and coordinate the response to two large scale wildfires occurring simultaneously across the country. This will require full incident management teams (IMTs) operating at a regional level, supported by each Region’s Coordination Centre (RCC) and NCC (National Coordination Centre) providing National support.
During the Exercise, Fire and Emergency and partner agencies will work together to promote preparedness and provide development and learning opportunities at all levels of incident management.
