At long duration incidents or at events in remote areas far from a supermarket or pharmacy, we have had times where our people, our emergency response partners, and members of the public have requested personal hygiene items.

As a response, we have ordered 1700 unisex emergency hygiene pack that will be distributed to all frontline appliances and stations across the motu.

Charlie Lott, National Manager, Equipment and Logistics says it’s great to be ready to distribute the packs.

‘As well as requests from our own people, we have also been asked for these items from co-responders and the general public during long duration fires and events.’

The emergency packs come in a brightly coloured, branded, 10 litre soft bag that is waterproof and dustproof. They will include items such as hand sanitiser, toilet paper, nappy bags, and women’s and men’s sanitary products. The bags have been designed to fit under the seat of an appliance and on top of existing station first aid kits or in the bathroom depending on what is preferred.

“I want to thank everyone who’s been involved in the development of these packs and the key items to include in them. I’m sure we all know someone who’s been caught out during an event,” says Barbara Olah, National Manager Women’s Development.

The packs are being provided by OfficeMax who we have partnered with to design, source the products, and assemble the packs. They will deliver them to our two Equipment and Logistics Distribution Centres (Rolleston and Tauranga) for distribution to trucks and stations by region through December.
