Under the new COVID-19 Protection Framework (traffic lights system), many of our travel and accommodation suppliers have introduced vaccination requirements.

These will affect anyone at Fire and Emergency who is required to travel, including for scheduled training.

Air travel

If you are travelling on an Air New Zealand domestic flight from 14 December 2021 you will need to have one of the following

  • Proof you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 using the Government’s My Vaccine Pass which can be presented digitally or as a hardcopy

or

  • A negative COVID-19 test result taken within 72 hours of your departing flight either in the form of a text message or a letter from a medical professional.

Proof will be required during the check-in process.

Air Chathams requires proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test for all travellers using their service from today, Friday, 3 December.

Customers will be expected to travel with a physical or digital copy of their COVID-19 My Vaccine Pass. If customers do not have a My Vaccine Pass they must have proof of a negative COVID-19 test from within 72 hours of departure.

Accommodation

Our travel provider Orbit has advised that many hotels will be implementing vaccination requirements from today, Friday, 3 December which includes staying with them and using their restaurant and bar facilities. The requirements vary between suppliers. Some are implementing these now, while others are phasing them in over a short period of time.

Hotels introducing the new requirements include those contracted by Workforce Capability for personnel attending scheduled training courses in the main centres.

What to do
