Consultation open on proposal to restructure Fire and Emergency NZ
Tēnā koe,
Consultation has now opened on the proposal to restructure our organisation. The proposal document can be accessed via this Consultation Portal page, after you've logged in.
As this is an internal consultation with Fire and Emergency personnel and relates to our people’s careers and livelihoods, I ask that you do not share the document more widely. It is important that we handle this respectfully and keep it within appropriate internal channels.
The proposed changes outlined in the document are designed to ensure we are best positioned to deliver on Tā Mātou Ahunga Rautaki – Our Strategic Direction, which guides how we lead and where we focus our efforts and resources.
This proposal represents significant change for our organisation, and it has not been developed lightly. While the proposed changes have been prepared with careful consideration, there may be areas you feel we haven’t got right, or where improvements could be made. Your feedback will be crucial in shaping the final decisions. As a reminder, you have until 4pm, Wednesday 26 November to provide your feedback.
I acknowledge that this may be a difficult time for many of you. Please look after yourselves and one another. Our wellbeing services are available to everyone and I encourage you to reach out if you feel that would be helpful.
You can access the consultation document and updated FAQs - which include details about the feedback process, timelines, and available support - through the Portal page below:

I am proud of the work you do every day to keep our communities safe. By acting now, with your input, we can ensure Fire and Emergency remains sustainable, effective, and efficient in meeting the needs of our communities, now and into the future.
Kia kaha, kia māia, kia manawanui - be strong, be brave, be steadfast.
Ngā mihi,
Kerry
