This week is Uike Kātoanga’i ‘o e lea faka-Tonga - Tonga Language Week (4-10 September).

This year's theme is e Tu'uloa 'a e lea faka-Tonga 'i Aotearoa, which means Sustaining the Tonga Language in Aotearoa.

At Fire and Emergency, we know it is important to be able to communicate with as many of our communities as possible.

To best support communities whose first language is not English, that may have recently moved here, and may not be used to New Zealand-style homes and kitchens, we have created resources in a range of languages, including Tongan.(external link)(external link)

This includes the following fire safety video available publicly on our YouTube channel.

You can stay up-to-date with the events of the week by visiting the official NZ Tonga Language Week(external link) Facebook page.
