We are living in a time of uncertainty and this affects everyone’s wellbeing in different ways.

The ongoing risk to us, our whānau, friends, and colleagues from COVID-19, paired with the impacts of vaccination requirements have also made the last few months particularly challenging for many.

On 2 March, we were joined by Jacqui Maguire(external link), a clinical psychologist, writer, speaker and media contributor, to talk about ‘Staying well in the face of Omicron’.

Jacqui gave us some really useful, practical advice covering:

  1. The psychological impact of crises, uncertainty and sudden change on human wellbeing
  2. Signposts for flourishing (positive wellbeing) and languishing (poor wellbeing)
  3. Effective wellbeing strategies tailored to COVID-19 life and change (e.g. how to reduce stress)
  4. A model to design your own personalised wellbeing plan

You can catch up on the webinar below.

During the webinar, Jacqui used and referenced materials. You can access these here:

We had great feedback during the webinar and it was an excellent opportunity for us all to get some valuable hints and tips as we navigate this challenging time.

If you have any feedback on the session, Jacqui would love to hear it. Please send your comments to communications@fireandemergency.nz and the Communications team will pass them onto Jacqui.
