Career firefighter recruitment opens 20 July
You will soon start seeing our firefighters on bus stops, on signage, at community markets in Auckland and Wellington, and on radio. They are sharing their stories as part of our national campaign to recruit more career firefighters.
We are targeting people available to start a training course at National Training Centre on either 14 January or 8 April 2019. Applications open between 20 July and 20 August 2018.
Our people are from all walks of life, ethnicities, ages and gender. This year’s recruitment campaign highlights this diversity, and aims to encourage members of the public to put in an application to join us by 20 August.
We’re using a range of media and channels to increase the chances of people seeing our messages, wherever they are. This includes advertisements in digital media, and some Auckland fire appliances will be promoting the application dates.
We’ve also been attending Career Expos, and held information sessions and practice days in Auckland, Rotorua, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. We promoted these events on social media and the response has been great.
A series of short videos are being produced to help people decide if firefighting is the career for them. Some of these are already on our new recruitment(external link) web page, so check them out.
