Waikato based Volunteer Support Officer Peter Baylis got a behind the scenes look at the season finale of Three’s The Block NZ: Firehouse last weekend.

The renovation reality show’s season finale aired on Sunday night, with Lisa and Ribz from Wellington winning the reality series after the live auction.

The renovation show this year took place at the former Kingsland fire station in Auckland. Fire and Emergency New Zealand worked in with the show to incorporate a substantial amount of home fire safety messages within the show.

As a nod to the history of the renovated site, two Fire and Emergency employees, Glyn Kessell from Dunedin and Peter Baylis got to take a special someone along to the live auction and enjoy a night in Auckland.

For Peter Baylis from the East Waikato, it was an experience he and his wife will have fond memories of for a very long time.

“It was a brilliant experience to be able to go along and meet all the people we have watched over the last three months.

When we first arrived, we had an opportunity to meet with all the contestants, and I was just so hopeful that they could at least walk away with some money after all their hard work.”

But while there wasn’t a perfect result for everyone, he was very happy to see at least two of the teams walk away with a prize on the night.
