The Australasian Police and Emergency Services Games (AP&ES Games) are coming to New Zealand for the first time since 2012 and will be held in Rotorua from 4-11 March 2022.

The AP&ES Games(external link) are an opportunity to build camaraderie and promote a healthy lifestyle through participation in sport, while heightening the public's awareness of police and emergency services. It gives us all the chance to come together as colleagues and friends while representing team Fire and Emergency.

The Games will attract up to 5,000 competitors from emergency services from across Australia and New Zealand in Rotorua, giving NZ the opportunity to showcase Māori culture and Aotearoa’s natural wonders to our Australian neighbours.

There are over 50 sports on offer including badminton, cross country, darts, equestrian, lawn bowls, netball, tug of war and volleyball to name a few. People of all ages and abilities are invited to take part in the Games, and categories are reflective of everyone’s different abilities.

If you’re interested in taking part, get the dates marked in your diary and start getting a team together now. With the Games typically being dominated by the Police, here is our chance to come together as an organisation and put Fire and Emergency on the leader board.

The Games are open to all our people, including both current and retired staff and volunteers. Registrations for the AP&ES Games open on 1 July 2021 and if you wish to take part, you will need to cover any costs and schedule your attendance around work or take annual leave.
