Air NZ Wellington - Rotorua route update
Air New Zealand Wellington – Rotorua Flight route update
The Air NZ overnight service on the Rotorua to Wellington route will be removed from the 17th of Feb – affecting the direct flights between Wellington and Rotorua return.
Reason for the change:
Air NZ domestic flying continues to be impacted by softer demand, particularly across corporate and government customers, and at the same time, operating costs continue to rise.
The changes will also give the airline a small amount of resilience to improve recovery options in the event of a flight disruption on their regional network.
What you need to know:
- Air New Zealand’s earliest flight from Wellington > Rotorua will be moved from 0830 to 1100; the latest flight back from Rotorua > Wellington will be moved from 1625 to 1245.
- All changes are effective from the 17th of February for a four-month period, with no indication this will revert.
- This will impact people that travel to Rotorua for day trips as there will no longer be a direct morning flight from Wellington>Rotorua, or a direct evening flight back.
- Connections for day travel to Rotorua require a transit in Auckland in both directions. The earliest departure from Wellington>Rotorua will be 0640 via Auckland arriving at 0900
- The latest departure from Rotorua will be 1715 via Auckland arriving back at Wellington at 2020
- Please plan your day carefully and ensure the request to travel is necessary and meets the policy requirements.
