Today we congratulate the four Fire and Emergency people who have been recognised in the 2022 Queen’s Birthday and Platinum Jubilee Honours list. We are extremely proud of our people and we acknowledge all the hard mahi they have put in over the years, not just to the different fire entities but to their communities as a whole, that is now being recognised at the highest level.

  • Makareta Desai (Manaia) – Member of The New Zealand Order of Merit for services to Fire and Emergency New Zealand and the community

  • Ian Carter (Hahei) – Queen’s Service Medal for services to Fire and Emergency New Zealand and the community

Every year Fire and Emergency personnel are recognised in the Queen’s Birthday Honours or the New Year’s Honours. Royal Honours gives the Queen the opportunity to recognise citizens of the Commonwealth for their outstanding contribution to their country.
