Fire and Emergency is looking for new members for Northland, Waikato, Hawke’s Bay, Marlborough, West Coast and Otago LACs.
Last week, the Fire and Emergency New Zealand Board formally established new Wellington and Canterbury Local Advisory Committees, appointing 15 new committee members.
The new LACs will be the voice of the regions significant to New Zealand’s economic, cultural and urban development.
‘This mahi is a great example of a community coming together to protect what they value for future generations.’
On Sunday, seven Incident Management Team members will travel to Canada to assist with their wildfire response in British Columbia.
We’re on a journey towards having a committee in every district across the country. We are establishing four additional LACs, in Southland, Taranaki, Waikato and Nelson-Tasman. At the same time, we are also recruiting for new members for our existing Hawke’s Bay LAC.
Planning is underway for a coordinated response to severe weather expected across much of the country later this week.
