The Rangiora Volunteer Fire Brigade would like to acknowledge with sadness the passing of Retired Chief Fire Officer Don Hassall QFSM. Don was an integral member of the brigade and was very active within the Brigade until his passing.

Ron Lennon
Wellington Operational Support Unit advise of the passing of Ron Lennon. Ronald Dereck Lennon served as member of the Wellington Fire Service Support Unit from 1998 to 2013, holding the rank of Fire Officer in the unit from 2000 to 2013.
Michael McLees
It is with great sadness that Blackmount Volunteer Fire Brigade advise the passing of DCFO Michael McLees. Mike was a valued member of the Blackmount Voluntary Rural Fire Force and latterly the Blackmount Volunteer Fire Brigade.
Bruce Abernathy
Cheviot Volunteer Fire Brigade advise of the passing of Bruce Abernathy. Bruce served at Cheviot Station for 57 years. Bruce's funeral service will be at Cheviot Station on Thursday 22 August at 1pm.
John Eunson (Huey)
Pongaroa Volunteer Fire Brigade advise of the passing of former CFO John Eunson (Huey). John served with the brigade from Dec 1970 to Jan 2011. He served the brigade as CFO for 28 years. He will be dearly missed by the Pongaroa community.
Archdeacon Joseph (Joe) Huta NZOM
The Kaupapa Māori and Cultural Communities Branch advise the passing of ex Kawerau and Auckland brigade member Joe Huta, in Rotorua. After leaving the organisation, Gold Star recipient Joe worked in various fields including the justice sector and studied at the St John’s theological college in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland.
Greg Olsen
Mapua Volunteer Fire Brigade advise of the passing of Life Member, “Sir” Greg Olsen at his home on 6 August 2024. A funeral for Greg will be held at the Mapua Hall at 12. 30pm on Friday 16 August.
