Akaroa Fire Station was officially re-opened on 16 June and construction of a new station for Upper Hutt is expected to be finished by mid-2019.

Availability and Messaging System (AMS) for VACS users from later this year
A new tool to provide accurate, up-to-date information about the availability of volunteers, and others, to respond to fire and emergencies is expected to be ready later this year.
Supporting families of our volunteers
Families play an important role in supporting our volunteers. Therefore, Fire and Emergency has created a Families of Volunteers brochure to help families, particularly those with a newer volunteer, understand what to expect, how life may change for them and how they, as a family, can be more involved.
