Kerry Gregory caught up with James Hall at the specialist water response team training at Vector Wero Whitewater Park in Manukau City where groups from Nga Tai ki te Puku and Te Hiku Regions got together to do a combined training.

We now have six trained specialist water response teams across the motu (country). Our working safely in water project started by providing our people with the skills, tools and knowledge they need to work safely around water and these teams are trained to work in water. The teams are now putting their training to the test when deploying to events such as the severe weather in the North Island and the Abbey Caves recovery in Whangārei.

You can check out the kōrero with James in the video above.
Ngā mihi | massive thanks to James for chatting with Kerry about the specialist water response team.
What is Kōrero with Kerry?

No matter what role you have at Fire and Emergency, we’re all working hard to protect what matters; people, property and the environment. To showcase some of the mahi that’s happening across our organisation, Kerry will be getting out and about to kōrero with different people about what their role is, what they’re working on and potentially share a few stories.

If there’s some mahi you’re keen to hear about, a person you think Kerry should chat to or if you have a comment about Kerry’s kōrero with James, feel free to post below.
