Fire and Emergency New Zealand is invited to join Police, Wellington Free Ambulance, New Zealand Defence Force and Special Olympics athletes on Saturday 3 August for a polar plunge.

The icy dip will take place to help raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics athletes and programmes across New Zealand. This event is timed to coincide with Polar Plunges on the same day in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, Queensland and West Australia.

What: Polar Plunge

Where: Freyberg Beach, Oriental Bay, Wellington

When: Saturday 3 August 2024, check-in begins at 8.30am, plunge starts at 9am

Who: Special Olympics athletes, coaches, families, Police, Fire and Emergency, Wellington Free Ambulance and New Zealand Defence Force staff and anyone else over the age of 12

Competitors are encouraged to wear part of their uniform or team outfit over the top of togs or wetsuits to represent their service, or maybe even fancy dress. Gather your crew, dress up and come on down for an awesome cause.
