Kia ora fellow mountain bikers!

Time to start honing the skills since this year’s championship in Christchurch is not far away (7th and 8th November).

Event Details

Open to all employees, volunteers and family members. This event can be as serious or as social as you want it to be, most people enter to meet new friends, catch up with old friends, and discover new places and tracks to ride their bikeFull size version [PNG, 1 MB]s. $50 entry will get you two days of great riding. 

There are two races that you can choose to enter, the XC (Cross Country) which involves riding up and downhill, and the Enduro which involves a chairlift up followed by a thrilling ride downhill. 

You can enter either one or two races, or choose none and assist with some marshalling, no cost if you are marshalling and not racing. 

The Courses

  • The XC event will run on the 7th of November at the Crocodile MTB Park.
  • The XC Event will comprise of a 3 and 5 lap race with each lap being around 3.7kms. 

Average lap time for the 3 lap race is expected to be around the 18-20min per lap, 60mins for the race.

Average lap times for the 5 lap race is expected to be 14-15mins for fast riders and 18-20mins average riders, 1hr 10mins to 1hr 30mins for the race. 

The tracks are a good mixture of beginner and intermediate, with A and B lines available, B lines are the easier lines that allow a roll around option that is easier than the A line but will be slightly slower to take, e.g. instead of taking a gap jump (A Line) you may take the B line roll around but will add 3 secs. 

The Enduro event will run on the 8th of November, at the Christchurch Adventure Park.
The Enduro will comprise of approx. 5 trails, these trails are yet to be confirmed but will be based on the intermediate trails, some will be flowing trails while others will be technical trails.

Riders will make their way to the start of the trails via the chairlift, which is covered by your entry fee.  You will be timed from the start to the finish of the trail, each rider will depart at approx. 30 second intervals.
