Calm in the Chaos - Embracing ADHD, Autism and neurodivergence in the workplace
Harnessing strengths and unlocking potential
The Neurodiversity network, Kanorau Ā-roro, is hosting another presentation for managers and teams who are looking to create an organisation where neurodivergent personnel can thrive and contribute their full potential.
About this presentation
Neurodivergent personnel bring unique strengths, perspectives and problem-solving abilities to the workplace, but many work environments do not draw on these skills and capabilities. From ADHD and Autism to Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and other forms of neurodivergence, each individual has a distinct way of thinking and working.
This presentation explores how organisations can move beyond accommodations and instead focus on strengths-based approaches to empower neurodivergent personnel. It highlights the benefits of embracing diverse cognitive styles and creating work environments that allow all employees to do their best work.
It will cover:
- An introduction to neurodiversity – understanding ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia and more, and how these neurotypes contribute to workplace diversity
- Perspectives from te ao Māori – embracing Māori understandings of neurodiversity as a natural part of human diversity, recognising that individual differences strengthen our community.
- The strengths of neurodivergent personnel – recognising creative problem-solving, pattern recognition, hyperfocus, innovation, integrity and unique perspectives
- How managers can harness neurodivergent strengths – practical strategies to align tasks with abilities and support focus and motivation
- How teams can work effectively with neurodivergent colleagues – communication strategies, collaboration approaches and ways to build an inclusive workplace culture
