Mental Health Awareness Week – 21st-27th of September 2020

He Tirohanga Anamata- Reimagine Wellbeing Together

This year hasn't been easy, and Mental Health Awareness Week is a great opportunity to remind ourselves what wellbeing looks and feels like. Whether you've got wellbeing tools in your kete to share, or you're looking for new ways to give yourself a boost – we hope you'll join us to reflect on what we've learnt from the hardships of 2020 so far, and how we can reimagine wellbeing together.

Organise your team and get ready to play bingo! We have created a bingo sheet of activities designed around the Five Ways to Wellbeing. This is to give you resources and ideas on how you and your team can get involved in Mental Health Awareness week.

The Five Ways to Wellbeing are simple and proven actions that we can all take to find balance, build resilience and boost our mental wellbeing.

  • Connect: Building strong relationships with others are an essential part of building resilience and boosting wellbeing.
  • Keep Learning: Being curious and seeking out new experiences positively stimulates the brain.
  • Be Active: Being physically active every day is great for our bodies and minds.
  • Give: Giving makes us feel good. Carrying out acts of kindness whether small or large, can increase happiness, life satisfaction and general sense of wellbeing.
  • Take Notice: Paying more attention to the present moment, to thoughts and feelings to the world around us can boost our wellbeing.

The Bingo sheet has many different activities that you can pick and choose from, whether it’s a potluck meal, practising meditation, learning a new skill, giving up your car for the day, running a fundraising event, or doing a random act of kindness. It is up to you and your team to get involved in a way that works best for you.

Check out the Bingo activity pack here on the Mental Health Awareness Week page, to find information and resources for the activities, and details on how you can go in the draw to win a prize. We look forward to seeing your photos and hearing your stories.

How are you and your team going to get involved in Mental Health Awareness week?
